Information architecture and the web-development process
Information architecture is one of the key elements that enables site visitors to have the best possible on-line experience. This two-hour presentation helps business and marketing professionals, as well as web teams, gain a better understanding of the hows and whys of information architecture in order to improve the user's experience and the overall success of the site.

 

Information architecture workshops
One or two-day workshops for content providers, webmasters, and designers. Following a review of the fundamentals of information architecture, workshop participants are coached during the creation of their own informational blueprints, which are later presented to the group and discussed. Workshops are usually limited to about 10 participants.

 

Writing for the web

Full or half-day courses for web editors and content providers so they can create findable, scanable, skimable, and readable on-line content. Topics include navigation (general labels), shared-reference building (executive summaries), descriptions (main content), contextual navigation (locally relevant links), convenience text (alt texts, pop-ups, FAQs, and instructions), and metadata (keywords, titles, descriptions).

 

Usability for designers
A half-day seminar for graphic designers who are migrating to web design from print and need a basic introduction to the principles and ergonomics of usability.

 

The basics of e-service
A two-hour seminar for business professionals that explains the guiding principles of service management and how an on-line presence must be effectively integrated into other business operations in order to achieve the best possible service quality.

 

Learning to search
Each year, thousands of work-hours are lost because people simply don't know how to find things on the web. This two-hour seminar is designed to explain to business professionals which search tools are available, which ones to use for specific informational needs, and how to use them in the most effective way.
